This fin was made for the Bluebird in 1973. It's a rigid, powerful little fin from the Hawaiian school of design lead by Dick Brewer, Gerry Lopez and in Australia Terry Fitzgerald. It loves high-speed point surfing and down-the-line flow, emanating from the speedy surfboard templates of the mid 70s. The smaller neutral fin encourages the board to roll onto either rail allowing the straighter template to become the driving element.

Mctavish Fins by True Ames

Santa Barbara fin specialists True Ames are the gold standard of surfboard fin manufacturing. Founded in 1979 by Chuck Ames, they've spent over four decades refining the craft, collaborating with legends like George Greenough—whose high-aspect designs influenced the shortboard revolution and created the 4-A, still the most popular single fin template ever made.

Early adopters of CNC technology while maintaining hand-finishing on every fin, True Ames partner with shapers who have a fundamental understanding of surfing's roots. When it came time to find the right partner for McTavish Fins, True Ames were the natural choice. These are the same tried-and-tested McTavish templates designed by Bob and Ben, now made by the best in the game—in limited quantities.
