How To Measure – Jersey:
To find your perfect fit, grab a rugby jersey or crew you already love and follow these steps. This will help you understand how McTavish jerseys will fit on you.
All you need is a Tape Measure, a flat surface and your favourite jersey (to measure against).
Tip: All our measurements are in centimetres (CM) and are taken with the garment lying flat. For rib hems/cuffs, avoid stretching while measuring.
Across Shoulder
Measure straight across from the outer edge of one shoulder seam to the outer edge of the other shoulder seam.
Across Chest
Lay the jersey flat and measure straight across the chest from one underarm seam to the other.
Body Length
Measure from the highest point on the shoulder (next to the collar) straight down to the bottom hem.
Sleeve Length
Measure from the top shoulder seam (where it meets the sleeve) down to the end of the cuff.
Why Rugby?
Climbers have been borrowing them since Yvon Chouinard's 1970 Scotland trip—when the sturdy collar and dense, heavyweight cotton proved ideal against rock, rope, and hardware. At McTavish we gravitate to hard-wearing natural fabrics, so a rugby-weight cotton jersey just makes sense: breathable, tough, and comfortable with enough structure for everyday wear.
