At McTavish Brookvale on Harbord Rd, BC Coffee is embedded in one of Australia's most iconic surf brands, founded by shaping legend Bob McTavish in 1962. The Brookvale space sits at the crossroads of the Northern Beaches surf community, the local trade, and a growing cafe culture.
This isn't a café attached to a surf shop. It's a surf community hub anchored by great coffee. Two brands, one shared philosophy - quality, authenticity, and a genuine love of the lifestyle.

We're not looking for a technically competent barista who can manage a roster.
We want someone who genuinely straddles both worlds - who surfs, lives the Northern Beaches lifestyle, and can also run a tight, profitable cafe operation.

The Café Manager is the face of BC Coffee at McTavish Brookvale - responsible for everything from exceptional coffee service to building the brand in the local surf and broader Brookvale community.

- 3+ years of relevant hospitality experience, including team management
and cafe operations - Available to work flexibly across the week including weekends
The Specifics - What You'll Do
- Deliver consistently excellent coffee and service in line with BC Coffee's
quality standards - Manage cafe staff - rostering, training, and day-to-day operations
- Own ordering, inventory management, and stock levels to maximise sales and minimise waste
- Maintain and grow supplier relationships
- Run quality control across all cafe offerings - coffee, food, equipment,
and environment - Keep the space immaculate, welcoming, and true to both brand aesthetics
- Support events and activations held in the McTavish Brookvale space
- Collaborate with McTavish on joint community initiatives, PR events, and activations
- Implement systems for compliance, ordering, and operational consistency
