How To Measure – Overshirt:
To find your perfect fit, grab an overshirt you already love and follow these steps. This will help you understand how McTavish overshirts will fit on you.
All you need is a Tape Measure, a flat surface and your favourite overshirt (to measure against). Tip: Measurements are in centimetres (CM) and taken with the garment lying flat. Don't stretch the fabric, rib, or cuff while measuring.
Across Shoulder
Measure straight across from the outer edge of one shoulder seam to the outer edge of the other shoulder seam.
Across Chest
Lay the overshirt flat and measure straight across the chest at the underarm from one seam to the other.
Hem Width
Lay the overshirt flat and measure straight across the bottom hem from edge to edge.
Body Length
Measure from the highest point on the shoulder (HPS) next to the collar straight down to the bottom hem.
Sleeve Length
Measure from the top shoulder seam (where it meets the sleeve) down to the end of the cuff.
What's Herringbone?
Herringbone is a classic twill with a distinctive V-shaped pattern that reverses direction for added strength and subtle texture. Long used in hard-wearing workwear and mid-century military fatigues. In our chore coat style overshirt, the 100% cotton herringbone feels light and breathable while still durable—exactly the kind of natural fabric we back.
