It's official, the McTavish Outpost is open for business!
For some time we’ve planned to have a store right in town, to showcase our boards and apparel to a wider range of folks, those who may never visit us at our HQ/Cafe at 91 Centennial Circuit, out in the Byron Arts and Industry Estate.
When this site at 29 Fletcher St came up we knew immediately it was perfect. The low-set heritage building is beautiful inside and out, with high ceilings, hardwood timber floors, a sunny western outlook, and parking right out front. The site features a double street frontage, lending itself to sharing the space with another trader. Who better than designer Sibella Court and her team from The Society Inc. Having collaborated with McTavish before on an art board project it was an ideal fit for Sibella to open her very own The Society Inc Outpost store in the same space, right across the hallway.
As with all great projects, this one had a (very, very) tight deadline; just 12 days to complete the required structural works, build and source the furnishing, complete the fit-out, and fill the shop with stock. The McTavish and The Society Inc teams banded together, and in a whirlwind of blood, sweat and (surprisingly no) tears, the jobs were delegated and everything rolled into action. When the doors were finally open to the public yesterday, we were all stoked to see how nicely the shops had come together. The beautiful space perfectly showcases our brand, finely representing McTavish right in the heart of Byron Bay.
The McTavish Outpost features a nicely curated collection of over 30 custom surfboards, as well as our entire apparel range, books, gift items and art prints, plus surf shop staples like board rental and wax. It's open 7 days a week; 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday.
We look forward to welcoming both new and existing customers through our doors.
