Wayne Rickards is a well known character in the Australian surfboard industry. Wayne started out in Barry Bennetts Brookvale factory back in ’67, making fins and doing blank glue-ups. He met Bob at Bennetts in 1970 and they formed a close friendship, which has spanned over 3 decades. Wayne later went on to work for Shane and McGregor in Sydney, before moving to Byron Bay in 1978. He started out in Byron making fins for Warren Cornish, before taking a break from the industry to raise a family. Wayne returned to McTavish in 2002 and is now renowned worldwide for the quality of his hand-made surfboard fins.
