Happy 2013

Monday, January 07, 2013

Well what a break - a solid 2 weeks of sunshine, swell and waves in the bay, amazing! Yes you get summer crowds but it doesn't matter when you have a quality E swell that delivers waves all the way from Broken Head to Belongil! Anyways, it was a good time but now we're back on the grind in the factory. All the best to all our friends, customers and suppliers for 2013 - lets make it a good'n!

Anyone with half a brain....

Monday, December 10, 2012

Exactly three years ago I published my first book "Stoked" along with a mate who had published a few books about beautiful East coast beaches. Virtually a self-publishing effort.

Because it was so successful, I immediately started writing the sequel, which picks up the timeline and adds another decade to my stories. The same quirkiness, the surprises, the characters, the boards, the waves, and the laughs are all there as the seventies rolled on. A bit more serious in spots, as drugs and Revolution swept the surfing world. Plus the magnificent East coast stars again. This time there are 150 mostly unpublished B&W photos and a larger format to display them.

The working title of the second book was the obvious: "More Stoked", but now Harper-Collins have come aboard, and as they are editing it ready for print, a name change might be in order. They really know what they're doing!

There's a line in the Introduction that has caught their eye as a possible title: "Anyone With Half-a-brain Would Simply Go Surfing!" It's a bit long, but it captures the theme well. Something good will come from our bouncing it around, no doubt.

The book is due for release next September at the Byron Writers Festival, and will be in bookstores nationwide,( if there are any left). A worthy read!

Lady Sliders

Sunday, December 09, 2012

This board came into the showroom today, fresh out of the factory and its spectacular! Fireball Evo Square tail with dimensions 9'2" x 23" x 3". Its got a flatter rocker than the Fireball Evo, combined with the square tail, its a great small wave cruiser!

A beautiful green pigment and finished off with a Valori Wells designed fabric deck patch. If you're looking for a gift for your special lady who surfs, this could be it!

In the showroom now...click here to check it out!

Collectable Cord

Thursday, December 06, 2012

Matty Chojnacki dropped by on Wednesday with this sweet looking Cord of Steve Montells' - very similar to Bobs own Batman board. A mystery as to who shaped it but we're thinking Bob or Kevin Platt. Its due for a little resto so once that heavy weight gel coat is gone it should reveal a signature. These are some of the best 'old mals' you can ride, the hippy template, low rocker and comparatively low rails (for the era) combine into a great trimming, noseriding and stall turning beast. This one is a little hefty at almost 15KG, which seems extra heavy, probably due to the salmon pink/egg shell blue gel coat treatment. A beautiful collectable from a great moment in time.
