Morning of the Mo this Saturday!

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

Got a mo? Got a pre 1980 board under the house? Wanna raise some cash for a good cause? Well you're in luck, this Saturday (Dec 3rd) is the Morning of the Mo event, being held around the Byron-Ballina coast. There is a decent swell forecast for Friday afternoon so hopefully it'll be pumping and the Mo-men will be tearing it apart. For more details go here. If you can't compete head along and take in the spectacle, its bound to provide a few laughs.

Dave at Tallows

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

McTavish retail doyen Dave English managed to dodge the Northerlies and score some nice little peelers at Tallows last week on his Squaretail Fireball - and the Soularch guys managed to capture some of the action! The board Daves been riding lately is a nice yellow tinted triple stringer number, and as Dave is upgrading all the time its on sale now right here.

All todays pics courtesy of Levi at Soularch - Thanks Levi!

Hi Bob and the whole team,

During the summer I ordered a G2 - size 9'0". Even from the other side of the world your team, especially Ben made the whole ordering process very easy. The board got delivered right to my doorstep and from that moment I could not wait for the next swell.

My last trip to France I was lucky to get a few days 3m and up. I surfed the spot Parlementia (Guethary) 3 times in the last week of Oktober. This photo was my first wave on my new board. Usually I ride longboards from 9 feet up to 10 feet, and on faster waves i stick to a 7 foot pin tail, but from the 1st paddle stroke I felt at home on my new McTavish. Great volume for a 185 cm tall and 85 kg monster dude. Paddling into waves were as easy as riding a regular performance longboard, but once I got down the face,  bigger wave qualities were felt - No slowing down, No side-slipping. I needed a few turns to get used to the cut back because of the narrower tail, but later in the session I felt very comfortable .

Dankeschön and I hope I meet you anytime in Australia.

Greetings

Andrik (Germany)

The film explores the history and culture of the area, and also covers a lot of the more interesting local characters including Bob. Check out the trailer here and get your tickets for the 30 Nov premiere at the Byron Community Centre - so you too can discover what makes this area so special.

These are (mostly) pictures you've never seen

Monday, November 07, 2011

Good news this week! Anyone who loves great surf photos knows who John Witzig is - but what you may not know is that as well as the iconic and often published photos (think Bob and the FJ Holden at Noosa) John has a huge stash of images spanning over 2 decades, through the most influential time period in surfing history. This new release large format book contains over 80 such images, featuring all the important names of the era - Nat Young, Wayne Lynch and George Greenough to name just a few. Its a beautiful book and a must for any surfer. To order your copy now click here

Crescent Head

Wednesday, November 02, 2011

A few weeks back I was lucky enough to have a week off at Crescent Head. A timely reminder of what a sensational part of Australia the East Coast really is. A tiny swell on the first day didn't exactly offer up the best of waves (good conditions for taking on Crescents famous 'championship' 6 hole golf course!), but luckily it came good mid-week and we got some little ones at the back-beaches.
